Impossible Cheese Burger Pie Recipe

Part of being thrifty is having an arsenal of recipes that can be made in a hurry! This is a favourite in my house, one that never has any left overs! 

I have seen many variations of this recipe, and this is mine after some tweeking to make it just how I like it! 

Ingredients:

• 1 cup Bisquick mix (Make your own with my recipe)
• 1 cup milk
• 3 eggs
• 1-2 lb ground beef, cooked
• 1 onion chopped
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1 cup shredded cheese
• 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
• Tomato slices (optional)

This is so easy! First, Pre-heat your oven to 400. Next, spread your browned ground beef in a greased pie plate. Add your onion and mushrooms if desired. 

Now, mix your biscuit mix, milk, eggs, and salt and pepper. I use my blender to make sure it is all good and mixed. 

Now pour the prepared batter over the meat mixture and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the pie and add the shredded cheese. If you want tomatoes, add them now too. (I was out of tomatoes when I made this last)



Bake for an other 5 minutes, or until cooked through. You want it browned slightly, and if you insert a knife, it comes out clean. That's it! Easy and delicious! Enjoy :)

Homemade Biscuit Mix

We love biscuits in my house! They go with everything. With 5 kids, I don't always have a ton of time to whip them together, so I make my own Bisquick mix to keep on hand for those situations! Super easy, and there when you need it! 

Ingredients:

• 9 cups of flour
• 1 1/2 tsp salt
• 4 tbsp baking powder
• 2 cups solid vegetable shortening
• clean empty ice cream pail for storage

Directions: 

So simple. Add all you ingredients it your ice cream pail.  

Now get in there with your hands, or a pastry mixer if you have one, and mix it all up. You want to get the shortening mixed in forming pea sized lumps.


That's it! So simple! Store it in your pail for 3 months (I have used it longer than that and it's been ok)



When you are ready to make biscuits, mix 2 1/2 cups of the mix with 2/3 cups of milk. Knead the dough and roll it out. Bake at 425 for 10-15 minutes, and serve.

She drove over the bridge, and crashed on the ice below right where my husband should have been working. She didn't stand a chance, and died on the scene. This accident really affected me. She not only was endangering her life, but the lives of people she couldn't have know were there. I am so thankful no one else was hurt, and so heartbroken for her family. 

There are more affects than we realize. Even small "fender benders" cause insurance rates to rise. We all have to pay for it, one way or another.

We often don't think how our actions affect others. We don't see beyond what we want to see. even the best drivers can get distracted affecting their abilities. We owe it to our selves, and our families to stop distracted driving. If we don't, how can we expect other people to?

Getting There Slowly

Little C is always doing new things. She is 2 1/2 now, and some days I am amazed because she seems more like a 12 month old. Through all the progress, I am constantly reminding myself that slow and steady wins the race.

Although she is still not walking, she is getting stronger every day. We now have braces on her ankles. This is helping her learn to use other muscles to steady her self. Her physiotherapist is suggesting new tools to help her, like a ride on toy. All things I never thought of.

She says "Hi" now, which is amazing!

The biggest excitement for me is the way she has responded to the newest addition in our extended family. My sister in-law recently had a new baby girl. Little C is very jealous of me holding any children, so I was very nervous about the new baby. Little C surprised me. He adores her new cousin, and is mad if I give the baby to anyone!
To add to my joy, she is now playing with her dolls! She is engaging in imaginative play, and imitating the adults around her! This is a huge step in her development, one I am very happy to share with you all! It just shows again, be patient........children are full of surprises! 

Revolt Week 12 Wrap Up

Well, I did it! Today marks the completion of 12 weeks on Revolt Fitness, and I am not quitting yet!
I knew when I started this journey that it would take some time, and dedication, and I am not going to quit until I have completed my goals!

Things I have learned:
I am stronger than I thought
Dieting does not have to be boring
Not cheating is easier than I thought
I was full of excuses
When you are about to say you've had enough, that's when you need to do another set!

The first work out I did with Revolt went fast, but I felt it. I started doing the level 1 work outs and was ready to collapse after each one. Now, I am keeping up, and even able to do level 3 some weeks. I have increased my weights, and people are asking me what I am doing because they see the results.

My husband is eating some of the food with me, and he loves it! How can he not? This week we had pancakes, pizza, coconut curry chicken and peach cobbler! What diet lets you eat like that?

So, where do I go from here? Well, I still have 30 lbs to lose to be where I want. I won't be posting weekly updates, but will share on Instagram and post bi-weekly. I want to show you all that this is possible. Revolt gives you all the tools you need. You just need to lose your excuses and get it done!

Reading Kingdom Review

As a home schooling mom, I am always interested in products that can help with my children's education. Especially when it can make learning fun. 

Reading Kingdom is an online game that helps children ages 4-10 improve their reading skills. 

The Basics

Reading Kingdom is based on the work of Dr. Marion Blank from Columbia University. Dr. Blank is  an expert on reading and language development. The program uses her patented and research based "6-SIM" (Six Skill Integrated Method) technique. The program begins with a "Skills Survey" insuring that the program is right at their level, not re-teaching the concepts they already know. As the child progresses through the program, it is customized to their particular reading needs, creating a unique teaching experience for each child. 

I have 3 children in this age range that need help with reading. I desired to start Little P on the program. Even though he is the oldest, he struggles with reading. It is so frustrating for me because reading is something I enjoy and he does not. 

Reading Kingdom has been wonderful for him. Not only am I seeing progress in his progress reports, but I am seeing him pick up books! Now I am wanting to try my other children on the program!
